National Jonah Flenderson Day is a running-gag from the YouTube comedy series The Lenny Leggo Show. It is a holiday that is observed annually on October 31st, the same day as Halloween. The holiday was created by, not surprisingly, Jonah Flenderson. The holiday has received widespread acclaim by millions in the Lenny Leggo universe and is currently celebrated by millions nationwide.
The idea of the holiday was created after Jonah Flenderson woke up after being asleep for two weeks due to passing out after excessive candy consumption on Halloween. His cousin and roommate, Martin Anderson, explained to him that, due to his increasing weight gain from Halloween each year, he could not continue celebrating the holiday, otherwise, he could die. Jonah took heed to this advice and set out to create a brand new holiday that he could celebrate safely, naming it National Jonah Flenderson Day. The next day, Martin finds out that one of the traditions of celebrating the new holiday involves eating as much candy as humanly possible. Despite Martin's claims that this newly founded holiday is exactly the same in nature and celebration, Jonah reasons that, since the holiday is named after him, that it would cease to exist if he died of obesity due to excessive candy consumption, thus making him more aware of himself and still allowing him to pig out on candy. The day after the holiday's creation, Jonah was interviewed on the morning news, as well as "The Morning Show with Mr. Davis" and the holiday became an instant success, today, having become celebrated by millions all across the nation. The holiday was celebrated for the first time the following year on October 31st and has been celebrated every year ever since.
The idea of the holiday originated from this show's prototype incarnation "The Lenny Lego Show" as "National Mr. Fireman Day". It was renamed "National Jonah Flenderson Day" to coincide with the character's renaming as well. The very first National Mr. Fireman Day presentation was released October 31st 2012, however, the 2012 and 2013 National Mr. Fireman Day videos were merely considered "bonus videos", rather than actual episodes of the show. In 2014 and 2015, the acknowledgement of the holiday was integrated into the show itself, a tradition which will continue with The Lenny Leggo Show.
